Hearing protection
Hearing damage can occur with prolonged exposure to volumes above 85 decibels. Most hairdryers are louder than this! Although there are a lot of benefits to an acoustic drum kit vs an electric one, the noise levels are something we have to be aware of. I want to ensure students are educated on how to protect their hearing so that they develop good habits that last a lifetime. Our goal is to create an exciting, musical environment where students can enjoy playing drums confidently and responsibly.

Benefit of Acoustic
There’s nothing quite like playing a real acoustic drum kit. Electric kits are a great option for low volume playing and smaller spaces. But an acoustic kit offers a level of feel, response, and sound that’s hard to fully replicate.
Learning on an acoustic kit helps you develop control, dynamics, and technique that transfer naturally to electronic kits as well. Most live music, rehearsals, and studio sessions still use acoustic kits, so it’s the setup you’re most likely to encounter in the real world.
By starting on an acoustic kit, you’ll be comfortable no matter what you play.
Precautions
We take hearing health seriously in all of our lessons therefore we take every precaution to reduce the noise exposure to students.
Lessons will be broken into segments of playing the acoustic kit, discussions, demonstrating and pad work. This will naturally reduce the amount of time students are exposed to the drum kit noise whilst ensuring a fulfilling lesson.
Noise cancelling headphones will also be provided for students. I'll be wearing them too!
